Mercury Fur by Philip Ridley

The most controversial play of the last 20 years, Mercury Fur first opened in London to a mix of anger and praise. Receiving its Philadelphia premiere, the play is set in a post-apocalyptic version of London’s East End where terror, gangs, violence, and drugs in the form of butterflies rule. Two brothers deal the butterflies and engage in trade with objects stolen from places like the British Museum, looted by butterfly-addicted customers. The real source of income is holding parties for wealthy clients in which their wildest horrific fantasies come to life, asking us all the question-how far we are willing to go to save the people we love?
